Miami Art Week + Art Basel: Here’s What You Missed!

Miami Art Week’s yearly art fair has officially come to an end! It was undeniably a memorable event that highlighted some of the NFT spaces greatest creators and teams. Equally important is Art Basel’s presence during Miami Art Week. The art fair celebrated its 20th anniversary in Miami Beach with its largest display to date. Nonetheless, with hundreds of events and galleries taking place, it’s easy to miss out on certain happenings. Having said that, here’s what you may have missed:

CHRISTIE’S 3.0 SALE – NEXT WAVE: THE MIAMI EDIT

On December 7, Christie’s 3.0 fully on-chain second sale, Next Wave: The Miami Edit, successfully closed, generating a whopping 247.1 ETH in sales. In other words, $303,908 USD was made, of which 93% was sold by lot. The sale gave collectors an opportunity to purchase artworks from a thoroughly curated group of 15 prominent artists. This includes Zancan, Ash Thorp, Ayla El-Moussa, Cath Simard, Dave Krugman, Random Internationl x Danil Krivoruchko, and more. Furthermore, the top lot in the sale was a work by Zancan titled Lushtemples that sold for 54.5 ETH. In detail, the work was displayed at The Gateway: A Web3 Metropolis and Christie’s during Miami Art Week. Also, an additional work titled Mother Flock from the Life in Our Minds collection by Random International and Danil Krivoruchko sold for 50 ETH.

“We are so pleased with the results of our first various-owner sale on Christie’s 3.0. In a time of uncertainty for the crypto community, this sale cemented what we have known to be true: dedicated and passionate collectors will continue to buy quality digital art. Next Wave: The Miami Edit saw global bidding and attracted nearly 85% new clients to Christie’s. We are so grateful to the fantastic group of artists who participated in the sale,” stated Nicole Sales Giles, Christie’s Director of Digital Art Sales.

Dopamine’s “WTF IS STREETWEAR+” launches at Art Basel

The recently emerged female-owned streetwear brand, Dopamine, opened a pop-up shop during Art Basel, which attracted several rap stars. On December 1, the official Dopamine Takeover Pop-up Store opened during Miami Art Week. RarityJan, the CEO of Dopamine, and the rest of the team presented a successful and fun-filled event for attendees. It included tons of seltzers, energy drinks, cookies and music. Further, rap sensations ASAP Rocky and Trippie Redd attended the event to hang out, converse about Streetwear+ technology and view Dopamine’s launch collection. Moreover, the all-day event also displayed physical and digital collaborative merchandise from creatives like KidSuper, Fvckrender, ThankYouX, NounsDAO and Dopamine’s own label.

“Our vision is streetwear that lives and breathes as dynamic collectibles capable of carrying with them the excitement of true ownership, the weight of history, and the limitless creativity of the brands and designers we all know and love. Streetwear+ amplifies and deepens the way you interact with the pieces you own,” said Dopamine’s team.
